FAQ

What is coaching?

Professional Coaching is an ongoing, strong partnership that helps clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives. Through the process of coaching, clients forward and enhance their lifelong process of human learning, effectiveness, and fulfillment.

How does it work?

Coaching sessions are conducted in person or by telephone, usually lasting approximately 45 minutes, 3-4 times per month. In each meeting the client chooses the topic or agenda for conversation. The coach listens and contributes observations and questions in order to provide clarity for the client. The coaching process provides a client with greater focus and awareness of choice.

Is coaching really therapy?

No. Coaching is not therapy and should not be confused with therapy. Coaching concentrates on where clients are today and what they are willing to do to get to where they want to be in their lives.

What does the coach do?

The coach’s responsibility is to:

  1. Discover, clarify, and align with what the client wants to achieve
  2. Encourage client self-discovery
  3. Elicit client-generated solutions and strategies
  4. Hold the client as responsible and accountable for their progress.

What does the client do?

The client sets the agenda, which is the heart of the session. Having a coach is like having your own best friend as a mentor and cheerleader – someone who has no agenda of their own to follow. The coach works in an alliance with the client to keep the focus on and achieve what the client wants.

What is the time commitment?

Most experts agree that the time it takes to change a habit is at least 21 days – change doesn’t happen overnight! For that reason, most coaching relationships require a minimum commitment of at least 3 months in order for the client to achieve a desired outcome.
